The 2006 forum featured 17 presenting companies from throughout New York State. These companies served the following markets: alternative energy/fuel cell, homeland security, wireless communications, next-gen Internet search, business telecom, biotech pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, medical devices, healthcare IT, charitable gifting and independent films.
Forty-four of the 122 companies that have presented have received funding directly attributable to SmartStart, totally approximately 57 million.

In the first three years of UNYTECH, 40 companies presented to over 600 potential investors, licensees, entrepreneurs and service providers. These companies have received over $21 million in funding and grants over the past two years.
2003 - 11.65M in venture funding, 2.51 M in grants
2004 - 835k in grants
2005 - 2.1M in venture funding, 2.9M in grants
Companies affiliated with the any of the participating institutions are eligible to apply. By its nature, university technology-based companies are very early stage, for this reason we encourage you to work closely with your institutions' technology transfer office during the application process.
